Katsura 2003
Sky made of images from occidental painting
Digital Print, 120 x 300 cm

Inspired by the interior of Shokintei, the famous teahouse in the imperial Villa Katsura in Kyoto, I designed a wall piece in a chessboard pattern. The blue fields consist of 205 painted skies that I have taken from reproductions of paintings by European old masters.

Vegetation II 2003
Digital Print, 120 x 300 cm
This photographic work picks up on an older work of mine: at an open-air exhibition in 1991, I covered a narrow garden path with plastic ivy. The location of the Japanese Cultural Institute and the view from the exhibition hall led me to the theme of nature in an artificial world and/or life in artificial nature.
